Acceptance of Dua

[Sahih Muslim : Book 35, Number 6593]

Narrated Abu Huraira  (Radi Allah Anhu): Allah's Apostle (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) said:
"The supplication of every one of you is granted if he does not grow impatient and says: I supplicated but it was not granted."

[Sahih Muslim : Book 35, Number 6594]

Narrated Abu Huraira  (Radi Allah Anhu): Allah's Apostle (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) as saying:
"The supplication of one of you is granted if he does not grow impatient and say- I supplicated my Lord but it was not granted."

[Sahih Muslim : Book 35, Number 6595]

Narrated Abu Huraira  (Radi Allah Anhu): Allah's Apostle (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) as saying:
"The supplication of the servant is granted in case he does not supplicate for sin or for severing the ties of blood, or he does not become impatient. It was said: Allah's Messenger, what does:" If he does not grow impatient" imply? He said: That he should say like this: I supplicated and I supplicated but I did not find it being responded. and theu he becomes frustrated and abandons supplication."

Our Lord! accept from us; surely Thou art the Hearing, the Knowing.

Are You A Momin?

Posted: 02 Sep 2012 01:42 AM PDT

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said: "A momin does not taunt, does not curse and reproach, does not indulge in obscene talking and obscene acts." [Tirmithi]

Did you make a sarcastic comments to anybody today?
Did you by word or gesture make fun of anyone today?
Did you insult anyone today?
Did you demoralize anybody today?
Did you put someone down for a mistake that they made?
Did you curse anyone today?
Did you say anything vulgar today?
Did you do anything obscene today?

We need to check 'No' next to each of these questions everyday to qualify as a Momineen.

It is one thing to be a Muslim and another to be a Momin.

To be a Muslim is a basic qualification, in other words, you pass.

To be a Momin is a distinction. A Muslim has entered Islam but does not have the Eeman that a Momin posses.

Good Women Are For Good Men Surah An Nuur : 26

Posted: 02 Sep 2012 01:39 AM PDT

Bad statements are for bad people and bad people for bad statements.

Good statements are for good people and good people for good statements:

أُوْلَـئِكَ مُبَرَّءُونَ مِمَّا يَقُولُونَ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ

such are innocent of (every) bad statement which they say; for them is forgiveness, and honored provision.

An-Nur : 26

Tasir Ibn Kathir

The Goodness of `A'ishah because She is married to the best of Mankind
Allah says,

Bad statements are for bad people and bad people for bad statements. Good statements are for good people and good people for good statements:
Ibn Abbas said,

"Evil words are for evil men, and evil men are for evil words; good words are for good men and good men are for good words. This was revealed concerning A'ishah and the people of the slander.''

This was also narrated from Mujahid, Ata', Sa`id bin Jubayr, Ash-Sha`bi, Al-Hasan bin Abu Al-Hasan Al-Basri, Habib bin Abi Thabit and Ad-Dahhak, and it was also the view favored by Ibn Jarir.

He interpreted it to mean that evil speech is more suited to evil people, and good speech is more suited to good people. What the hypocrites attributed to A'ishah was more suited to them, and she was most suited to innocence and having nothing to do with them.

Allah said:

such (good people) are innocent of (every) bad statement which they say;
Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam said,

"Evil women are for evil men and evil men are for evil women, and good women are for good men and good men are for good women.''

This also necessarily refers back to what they said, i.e., Allah would not have made A'ishah the wife of His Messenger unless she had been good, because he is the best of the best of mankind. If she had been evil, she would not have been a suitable partner either according to His Laws or His decree.

Allah said:

such are innocent of (every) bad statement which they say;
meaning, they are remote from what the people of slander and enmity say.

for them is forgiveness,
means, because of the lies that were told about them,

and honored provision.
meaning, with Allah in the Gardens of Delight.

This implies a promise that she will be the wife of the Messenger of Allah in Paradise

Oh Beautiful Muslim Women! What Islam Says About Enhancing Our Appearance?

Posted: 02 Sep 2012 12:39 AM PDT

Generally, we as women want to look beautiful. We do not hesitate to spend much money to improve our appearance.

Pluck the eyebrows, dye the hair, paint the nails,  fill the teeth, wear perfume, and so much more! All, so we can look more attractive in front of people.

This behavior is quite natural… however, there are certain things we should know before we improve our appearance.

Be aware and know that  what we cosmetically change does not change or alter God's creation –which, of course this is not allowed.

So let's do a quick review of what IS ALLOWED in Islam on beautifying oneself!

Eyebrows plucking or shaving? Allowed OR Not?

Many questions raised about whether shaving the eyebrows is allowed in Islam. Not just once or twice the same question was assigned to Ustadzah in the study in which I participate.

Mentioned in the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud RA, that the Prophet of Allah pbuh said:

"Allah curses the women who make tattoos and those who ask for tattoos, the women who shave their eyebrows and ask her eyebrows shaved, the women who  filling their teeth to make them more beautiful and they are those changing the creation of Allah (hadith narrated by seven narrators).

So, it is clear that to make the eyebrows thinner is haram.

You can also read more about discussions on plucking the eyebrows here.

How about Tattoo?

Tattoo is haram to either for the one who makes tattoo, agree when someone else do for them, or who request it. According to Asy-Syafi'i, part of the body that has tattoo becomes unclean /najis. So if possible it must be removed. Unless if removing the tattoo would cause trouble, danger, destruction, loss of one limb, or serious injury, then it is not obliged to remove it.

Tooth Filling

Tooth filing with the intention to have small teeth and more interesting is haram either for those who make it or request to be filled, if the purpose solely for the sake of beauty. But when the purpose is to improve the disgrace or irregular teeth, is allowed. Read some answers here too.

When we can use Perfume?

It is unlawful for a woman using perfume other than to fulfilling her husband's pleasure only. And you better use a perfume that smells not very provoking.

As recommended by the Prophet pbuh, which means,

Verily perfumes for men is a strong scent and calm colors, perfumes for women is a striking color and calm scent (hadith narrated by An-Nasai, At-Tirmidzi, and Abu Hurairah).
